This project shows the aesthetic influence of English stone manors, for a casual and contemporary family. Rustic stone walls are refined by limestone window tracings, door detailing, and hand-cut corbels, creating contrasts of color and texture.
The garage is accessed through a "porte-cochere," providing a veiled separation between the public and private qualities of these two spaces, and screening the service court from view. Gas lanterns flank the porte-cochere, and the formal entry portico. Beside the portico a large, curved-glass window echoes the curve of the front stairwell within.
